I really REALLY loved this series when I was a tween/teen, partially because the author was SO YOUNG when she started publishing (also a teen) and I was like: I could do that. Fifteen years later the reread doesn’t hit as well, even though I’d forgotten literally everything that happened in the book, but this series remains fucking DEAR to me and I’m already starting on the second one (which I think was my favourite anyway).
Rachel/Rasika is turned into a vampire against her will three hundred years ago. Her twin brother tried to save her but wasn't able to. She tried to fight the nature of the vampire, but after so long has finally given in to the ability to kill with ease. My main complaint with this book is that it was too short, it went back and forth from past tense to present tense. Nothing really happened, and nothing was really acomplished. I do look forward to reading more from this author, she is so young, and will only improve her writing style.
This book is shockingly bad. I would have given it a worse rating but I just felt so bad for it. It's like a fourteen-year-old girl wearing lots of black and trying to impress you with how spooky she is because she likes the night. Also her best friend is a tiger. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Wish it had a better ending or had a follow-up book so u know what happens to the characters.

This book is indeed a really quick read. You basically go through it like water, but I must agree there are a lot of questions that go unanswered. This book is about Risika a 300 year old female shape-shifting vampire who is seeking revenge. She is still realizing who she is, even though it isn't hard to figure out that she is special. The setting goes back and forth from present to her past. I did like that at least it explained how she became a vampire and why she seeks revenge. Which I believe is a good reason to seek revenge. I did enjoy the relationship she had with Tora, although I wish we could've found out more about there relationship and how it came to be to understand why Tora was so special to her.
Considering the author was 13 when she wrote this story its understandable why the story lacked a few things and was a quick finish. Surprisingly considering the authors age there was no romance. So if that's what your looking for this is so not the book, but who knows where it will lead because this is just 1/4. I did enjoy the book and look forward to reading the next book to see if this is a series worth finishing.
