Listened to the audiobook through my local library. Read by Malachi Kirby, always interesting when your own name pops up.

This was a brilliant introduction to this authors work and I will definitely be checking out some of her other novels as a result. Although the storyline was predictably depressing and stereotypical of a youth growing up in impoverished London borough it still had a lot of heart and character development.

A short, poignant delight!

This letter from a black, English 14-year-old boy to his mother maps out the course he took into trouble.

The writing is compelling. He lives, breathes, reacts and thinks. This reader was right there for the short ride.

Highly recommended.

My only experience of inner city gangs has been gained through my current work however reading this account of how young people fall in to gangs has commonalities with every story I've heard from County Lines. Incredible.

Format really put the character at the centre of it.

I picked up this book whilst on holiday and I was rather disappointed. Even if the book was longer and the storyline and characters developed more, I still don't think I would really enjoy this book.

I found the characters to have little to no personality or depth and I just felt the 'street' language was trying too hard and did not read as authentic. I do this this book is much more suitable for younger readers compared to adults and young adults. However, if written from a different perspective with a bit more character and plot development, it could be a different, better and more impactful story.
