Title: Reminders of Him
Author: Colleen Hoover
Pages: 335
Genre: Contemporary romance

I feel really disappointed. I went into this expecting to enjoy it, maybe even enjoy it more than Verity… but it felt predictable and the writing wasn’t great (coho fans don’t attack me).

We follow Kenna, an ex-con who served time for the manslaughter of her boyfriend Scotty. Five years later, she’s out of prison and looking to reunite with her daughter Diem, one problem, Scotty’s parents have custody of Diem and won’t allow Kenna to meet her.

Don’t get me wrong, it was an easy read and I was invested enough to want to finish it but I’m starting to realise that Colleen
Hoover’s books are pretty hit and miss..

I’m also starting to realise that I don’t find her female protagonist very likeable. They’re always in horrible situations and I feel for them on that level, but as people and their personalities… they’re all kind of annoying.

I was expecting to love Ledger, but no. We knew virtually nothing about him other than he points at things a lot.. he was set up to be a great leading man but it fell short for me.

I have only seen rave reviews for this book and I’m disappointed that I didn’t love it like everyone else. The ending was wrapped up so quickly and imo ruined the whole book. It felt we were building to something bigger and then were let down in the last 40 pages.

There’s just sadly nothing special about this book. Also, 9 times out of 10, I hate the names CoHo gives her characters!!

not a fan of colleen hoover but i only gave this three stars bc yes i did end up crying at the end. but it wasn’t all that! i read it last year so i don’t really remember what happened but i guess it was alright, i think 3 stars is a bit too high but i wouldn’t want to hurt anyone feelings would i..

This book had my jaw on the floor and my attention immediately after chapter 5. What an amazing story. Unlike any other I’ve heard. I was on edge the whole time trying to figure out what the ending of this book was going to be. Highly, highly recommend this to anyone. Such an amazing read!! Exceeded whatever expectation I had because I went into it blind. I didn’t even read the back of the book.

I am so glad that I have Colleen Hoover's books another try because this one was just incredible and I could not put this book down. I loved it so much. I spent 50% of the book crying and being an emotional wreck and I spent the other 50% being super smiley and giddy for our characters, especially Kenna. Even as I write this 'review' my eyes still hurt and are still very much puffy with all the crying that this book drew out of me.

This book follows 26 year old Kenna who has just come out of five years in prison, wanting to finally meet her 4 nearly 5 year old daughter, Diem. As she moves back to the town of painful memories, she meets bartender Ledger who is her final chance to get to know her daughter and we get to see how they bond and form a friendship along with learning all about why Kenna went to prison and how much it affected her and her life along with the lives of others. I also loved that this book was dual POV as it added so much depth and allowed more insight to both sides of the narrative which I really loved. Obsessed.

[REVIEW] Reminders of him by Colleen Hoover

Recommend Yes/No: Yes

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️[4/5]

Is it me or are the coho books becoming increasingly successful in making you see a different perspective on things? I feel with every new Hoover book that is released, a new topic is explored and I love it. The sizzling romance, appealing protagonist and ‘obsessed level of love’ is always there but with each new book comes a new layer and a new spin on topics.

Once again I sailed through this and completed it within a few sittings! If I’m ever stuck for what to read and struggling to get into something, I always look for a coho book I’ve not read yet.

I don’t think I’ve ever read anything where one of the main characters is a female who’s just left prison. I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did but Hoover always make even the difficult subjects a bit easier to digest.

If you’re a coho fan and you’ve not read this yet, you won’t be disappointed!
