Edit: as I sit with the content longer, the misogyny really bugs me and isn’t necessary at all… and the rape/sexual assault isn’t needed either?

Overall, REALLY loved this book. Only one complaint… using being a girl as an insult is unnecessary.

There is a theme of looking down on women/ using “being a girl” as a negative. In such a futuristic, heightened society, this isn’t necessary and literally adds nothing… the Golds are all supposed to be equal, but calling someone a girl is a negative. Also, with the Golds being at the top of society, gender binary shouldn’t matter?

I liked it, it could’ve been a five star but the beginning was quite slow, and I was very surprised at how long we stayed at this school challenge. Also, I feel that there was a lack of POC’s in this book we do have one that comes in a lot later but we also find out that Quinn is also black, but we never knew that for a while so I hope that the next book the author is a little bit more descriptive of. People, and that they have more POC representation in this beautiful big world because it doesn’t make any sense for sci-fi to not have. More POC reps

️️ ️️️️ ️️
“This is a blood feud,” he hisses in highLingo. “If ever again we meet, you are mine or I am yours. If ever again we draw breath in the same room, one breath shall cease. Hear me now, you wretched worm. We are devils to one another till one rots in hell.”

️️ ️️️️ ️️
Sebagai seri pembuka, buku ini cukup menjanjikan. Gak sabar sama buku kedua, pengen lihat Cassius balas dendam ke Darrow dan pertumpahan lainnya. 🫣👏🏻

ANDDD I REALLY ADMIRE PAX AU TELEMANUS!! 🥹🫶🏻

So Protestant. Knock off Hunger Games. The book is boring until you get to the games. The games were interesting to read. It wants to say something about justice and race and class. But it just doesn’t—like I said, knock off hunger games. Idk if I’m just tired of rebellion books or what. Also I can’t stand the MC. So annoying, condescending, and full of himself. Also there was literally nothing about this that was sf besides the setting.

This book cannot be put down. It is a wild, emotional, butt-clenching rollercoaster from start to finish. Loved it. Laughed. Cried. Immediately started the next book in the series. To say I'd recommend it would be an understatement.
