I love the author and illustrator of this book, but it is stuck in that odd place where I don't know what to do with it. It seems as though it was made for adults to appreciate - but I an not sure kids will feel as connected to it as an adult would.

I feel that there are getting to be more picture books written for an adult audience. I have had the experience more and more often that I buy a book (that I have not read myself) for my library, based on reviews and word of mouth (or in this case the author) then feel uneasy about it's future - I don't believe it will get checked out, because kids will not be drawn to it.

I am interested in seeing if this feeling holds true. Check back with me in a year and I will check my collection stats. :)

Also minilesson material... envisioning, inhabiting the world of the text. Melissa Sweet's design absolutely makes this book. Gorgeous eye candy!

More of a beautiful poem than a story. This is gorgeously illustrated and a real delight to read.

This book is a work of art! I am obsessed with the color palette.

I really loved reading both the author and illustrator's inspiration for their parts in creating this beautiful, unique book that celebrates books!

Glorious mixed-media and fluro colours means this leaps off the page.

Love how the art interplays with the words. In a few places, the art takes over and makes it difficult to tease out the words, though.

I found the text difficult to read at first but grew to love it more and more. The details and creativity, along with the text, are quite incredible and beautiful.
