this book was better paced and more cohesive than the 2nd book in the series.

Still didn't care for Avery wallowing in her two romance choices, but that's definitely just a me thing, lol. There is also a lot less of it in this book, so yay.
The stakes were high and the mystery unfolds in an entertaining, popcorn-y kinda way. The puzzles were actually more puzzley which I was happy to see, as it felt like there wasn't as much of that in the 2nd book. Not always into a random 3rd act character joining the crew in the third book of a series but this character ended up making sense to the plot, her character arc was handled well overall.

Its definitely a very cheesy but I had a good time reading this series overall. I also feel a sense of freedom, having finished it though... 😅

The third book in The Inheritance Games trilogy, The Final Gambit is a nice wrap up of Avery’s story. Unfortunately this book wasn’t quite 4 stars the way the first two were. Some of Avery’s thoughts were, imo, too repetitive. Also the romantic angst for Avery choosing between Jameson and Grayson was just a bit too much and went on entirely too long in the narrative of this third book.

A solid conclusion to a fun YA trilogy, filled with mystery, puzzles, and secrets. If you want a book where you feel like you're playing along, this series may fit the bill.

While the stakes are massive for Avery and the Hawthornes, in terms of most thriller and mystery reads, they feel rather tame. You aren't really expecting much death and destruction, even if the villains have movie supervillain money. If you're expecting a lot of darkness (because when you're talking about billions and billions of dollars, dark seems fitting), that's not what you'll find in these pages.

It skates around the edges of true depth, darkness, and evil, and while it still makes for an entertaining read, I think those tweaks could have tipped it to a whole new level.

I felt it was a really nice and concise ending. Everything ended up addressed which I liked, I do feel the climax at the end could have been a bit more drawn out, it ended fairly quickly.
