17 books in and this is the Best read of the year so far. So much that started at the very beginning is brought to a fantastic conclusion. I loved the characters and their development, the questions and hints, and the intrigue, despair, hope and humor throughout the whole series.

Heir of Novron é o terceiro omnibus e a conclusão da série The Riyria Revelations. Eu iniciei esse último volume com baixas expectativas pois o segundo omnibus, Rise of Empire, me decepcionou bastante. Heir of Novron é a compilação dos dois livros finais da série, o primeiro desses dois foi uma pequena melhora sobre Rise of empire, apesar que Arista continuou sendo “a Damsel in distress” o que foi irritante, porém o último volume elevou a qualidade da história novamente, Arista melhorou como personagem, ou seja, Sullivan deixou de obriga-la a tomar decisões idiotas para avançar o enredo. Não apenas isso, mas é nesse último volume que se foca mais na guerra contra os elfos e são feitas várias revelações como: o fato de que Novron na verdade era um elfo (na religião gerada ao redor dele se acreditava que ele era um homem que salvou a humanidade dos elfos); a revelação de que o patriarca da religião que controla o Império era um elfo e na verdade o vilão que enfrentou Novron pela coroa centenas de anos atrás e busca tentar novamente; foi revelado que a pessoa que matou Gwen foi o mentor de Royce, Arcadius, que buscava esconder a existência de Mercy, a filha do casal, e assim moldar a líder perfeita para o Império; e foi feita a revelação de que Royce era o verdadeiro herdeiro de Novron. A maioria das revelações foram satisfatórias para mim, apesar de ter tido o spoiler sobre Royce revelado pelo google. Outros pontos positivos foram: Houve um pouco mais de atenção dada a a amizade de de Hadrian e Royce, o que para mim é o melhor elemento da série; o romance agua com açúcar de Hadrian e Arista ocupou menos tempo de página do que esperava o que me agradou. Este romance recebeu atenção só o suficiente para receber uma conclusão aceitável; Modina continuou a governar o mundo dos homens o que me deixou feliz pois ela se mostrou uma excelente governante e personagem feminina; Royce se tornou governante dos elfos e isso me agradou muito também. Os pontos fracos foram: Arista precisando de ajuda de novo no começo do omnibus; Houveram momentos que se arrastaram um pouco no primeiro e segundo livro; O fato de que o conflito principal da série entre a humanidade e os elfos só realmente recebeu atenção e desenvolvimento no livro final e na minha opinião deveria ter sido mais gradual ao longo da série; A revelação da filha de Royce e o fato de que o final o foco foi nela e Royce. Não houve tempo para se apegar a essa criança e para mim o relacionamento de Royce e Hadrian era muito mais importante e significativo do que essa relação apressada e empurrada de Royce com uma filha revelada de última hora. 
 No geral o último volume salvou a série para mim e proveu um final satisfatório, apesar de que preferia que os amigos Hadrian e Royce terminassem juntos e não em reinos distintos.

Dou 4 estrelas para esse volume e para a série como um todo.

Review of The Heir of Novron

            In this final volume, we have Wintertide and Percepliquis, where everything and everyone comes together full circle.  The shit has hit the fan as we pick up where The Emerald Storm ended. Arista has failed to rescue Gaunt and has been put in prison by Saldur, and while Royce is making sure Gwen has safely made it to the Abbey Hadrian has been persuaded to make a deal with Saldur.  Hadrian while masquerading as a knight to kill someone for Saldur and he'll give Hadrian Arista and Gaunt believing them not to be a threat to his Empire.  Modina is being forced to marry Ethelred, but she is not someone to be underestimated.

            It was so great to see all characters come together in this final volume as we solve the mystery of the Heir of Novron.  We get to see characters like Myron and Alric once again step into the spotlight with Royce, Hadrian, and Arista.  Alric has matured a lot and stepped up, but he still has insecurities and his relationship with sister is still shaky.  He is jealous of her skills as a leader and resents her taking the lead.  Myron continues to be a nerdy sweetheart and love how no matter what the situation is still hopeful.  I like him would eager explore libraries and learn all the history I can.  Gaunt is more prominent in this volume, particularly in Percepliquis, and becomes more annoying and unlikable.  It makes it ironic that he’s believed to be the heir.  We get more of the Elves in Percepliquis and learn more about the history of this world.  Magnus also returns and plays a bigger role giving us more on Dwarf history too.  I loved Magnus’ development too as he becomes a more admirable character.  One of the romance subplots finally comes to fruition in a great way.  Percepliquis is my favorite with the adventure the characters had to go on.  The characters must find an ancient city that is hidden.  It is a different kind of danger from Emerald Storm as there’s a feeling of claustrophobia. There is talk of rape of one of the female characters, but the doesn’t happen, the character wasn’t threatened with it.  There is also a character who wants to attempt suicide due to a death.  This was a great ending to the series with a satisfying resolution.
