Liked the premise of the unusual terms of the will, the 3 sisters from different mothers, even the murder plot line. What I could not get past was . I am disappointed in Nora!
Read because I am visiting Montana soon and like reading some fiction set there. It also fits the 2018 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge prompt for a book about a villain or antihero. Also counted it for 2018 ATY #23. Legal thriller.
Spoiler
how the serial killer was not caught at the beginning both because 1. there were so few real suspects with means and opportunity, and 2. the murders were so bloody that the simplest forensics and investigation would have solved it after Pickles murdered. The Keystone Cops would have solved it then.Read because I am visiting Montana soon and like reading some fiction set there. I love this story. This was a reread (one of many) so I knew the plot already. It’s a murder mystery, coupled with family drama and secrets coming out. Some of the trigger warnings are marital abuse and kidnapping, descriptive murder scenes, but I’m sure I’ve missed some so please check the authors warnings as well. But it’s a great story and the characters are interesting? Have dynamic relationships with each other, especially the sisters.
3.5 stars but I'll round it up. Pleasant read, but a little long.
Nora Roberts delivers again with this story of three sisters thrown together because of an unusual provision in their father's will. Montana serves as a backdrop for the story, with every season used to give us a visual image of ranch life in the Midwest.
I enjoyed the story, especially each sister's own self discovery. It wasn't just through the men that entered the picture but what they were able to learn from each other and redefine family. Roberts has also created extremely likable male characters with flaws and strengths woven together nicely. If I have a criticism it's the ending, which seemed to have done so a bit abruptly.
If you're a Nora Roberts fan, this should be on your list. If this is your first, it's a good one to read as a starting point.

This whole story takes place on two ranches that are side by side. When Jack dies, Willow expects that she will inherit the ranch she has been working since she was a child, but that is not what happens. She has to work the ranch with her two estranged sisters for one year or they all get nothing. When dead animals start turning up on the ranch that are clearly murdered, people go on high alert, but it continues to escalate until a body is left on the ranch. I was surprised as to who was behind them. Overall 3 star read for me.

Really good and suspensful. A little gory, though. But still a wonderful book!
Not completely horrible, there were a few good bits, but God! There are maybe 2 characters in the whole book who aren't some level of misogynist asshole.
