Definitely a page turner! Imagery was really good, but wish one of the characters had a bit more conclusiveness with their ending
Graphic: Murder

This was so scattered.. I tried getting into this three or four times, sure I’d missed something after becoming hooked in the first chapter and getting lost in the subsequent pages. But no amount of backtracking brought me back where I felt anything other than dread when thinking of picking up this book again. I know some people love this book, it’s just unfortunately and disappointingly not for me

For a thriller I enjoyed this. I don't know how I have shoehorned myself into thrillers with sentient birds as their big bad boogeymen but apparently I like the genre since this is the second one I've read recently. For reals though, I listened to this as an audiobook and I definitely know for me, I'd much rather do an audiobook versus physically read a thriller because it just builds the drama and tension even mroe. I like the way Foley does multi POV's and thought it was fun to see how everyone connected to one another by the end. Overall a good read.

The story is told from the perspective of several characters, but it often feels scattered. The ending was predictable, bordering on cheesy.
I love the reviews saying that this was as if Fyre Fest and the Blair Witch Project had a baby.
Read this on my kindle and it took awhile for me to want to pick it up and then took the first half for me to really get into it but the ending sold it for me.
It’s the opening night of The Manor, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; crystal pouches for guests’ healing have been placed in the Seaside Cottages and Woodland Hutches; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.
But under the burning midsummer sun, darkness stirs. Old friends and enemies circulate among the guests. Just outside the Manor’s immaculately kept grounds, an ancient forest bristles with secrets. And the Sunday morning of opening weekend, the local police are called. Something’s not right with the guests. There’s been a fire. A body’s been discovered.
Everyone has a double story, every character has been reinvented and is searching for something different but one thing remains the same...there are going to be birds. I loved the incorporation of the birds. The lore, the trepidation of the townspeople, the disregard by Francesca and you can tell it was never one generation with the birds, this village has them in their roots.
I think I might have struggled if I didn't read this straight through due to the changing narratives and character growth but overall, a good read.
