I've tried reading this twice now, and I don't care about any of it. It's not bad, I'm just apparently never in the mood for it.

I got 60-70 pages in and just do not care about any of the characters or plotline… the writing is also a bit eh to me

Very much a slow-burn book until you get to the last handful of chapters. I wasn't particularly thrilled throughout the book and the supposed supernatural nature of the birds left me less able to take the story seriously. It also gave me major hot fuzz vibes as a small culty group of people try to protect their time under their own 'laws'. It kept me interested enough to get to the end, a 2.5/5 for me, rounded up to a 3.

For most of this book I was kind of bored, but the ending mostly pulled it all together. For most of it I felt like the organisation of all the exposition was a really haphazard and I had to flip back and forth a lot. I get what the author was trying to do but I don’t think it was executed as well as it could have been. All in all, it was fine.
