From the very first page this book had my attention, and as the story progressed it just kept pulling me in more and more. By the time I reached the halfway point, I was thoroughly gripped and had a hard time putting it down even when I absolutely had to. The mystery is set up right from the start, the prologue providing a compelling hook that immediately had me wanting to know more.

The story is told from the perspective of three different characters, each beautifully written and cleverly woven together. Sometimes when there are multiple narratives in a book I find that there is one I don't care for quite so much and have to try not to skip, but that was never the case with this. Each of the main characters are interesting and well-crafted enough to hold their own, with their separate narratives serving to develop them as individuals as well as the story as a whole.

Emma Törzs found the perfect pacing for this book, with the story set over just a matter of days meaning every chapter counts. At no point did I feel as though I was reading any filler content, or as though I could simply skip over a few pages without missing anything. Every page adds something of value, whether it's advancing the present timeline or shedding light on things by revealing little bits of the past.

Filled with unexpected twists and some pretty high stakes, I found this book to be a brilliantly clever blend of thriller/mystery and fantasy - conveniently two of my favourite genres - and I would highly recommend it to fellow fans of them.
