I love this series and look forward to every book. I read this book in one day. It was hard to put down while I was at work, and I finished it as soon as I got home. In a word, this book was awesome.
mysterious

It was an okay ending to the series.

The first Ellery Adams book I read was the first in the Books by the Bay series and I was instantly hooked. I loved the people, the town; it remains my favorite series by Adams and I love all of her series. I was so sad when it ended but now the latest installment of the Book Retreat Mystery series has become my favorite in the series as not only do we get to see Jane and Olivia interact more but it also takes us back to Oyster Bay. Murder in the Book Lover’s Loft has it all: murders in both Storyton and Oyster Bay, time with all our beloved characters, ace sleuthing done by Jane, Olivia, and their team, and more milestones in Jane’s life. This is yet another gem in the series.

I love this series.

Jane and Edwin are heading off for vacation, but before leaving a body is discovered near Storyton Hall. Not a guest at the resort, the pair head off to Oyster Bay for a some rest and relaxation (connecting more deeply to the Books by the Bay series). Vacation kicks off poorly with discovering another dead body and Edwin sustaining a serious injury. Jane works to uncover what really happened to the Oyster Bay body and finds herself, Edwin, and Olivia back in Storyton to solve both! This was a great entry and gives many characters lovely wrap ups to their stories.

I love that we get an update for characters from the Book writers mystery, but also man that guy was horrible!

Absolutely fell in love with the setting, the characters and the books! Thanks for a great series!

Murder in the Book Lover’s Loft is another fabulous book by one of my favorites, Ellery Adams. I devoured this book in one day and loved every minute of it.

I love books that have a bookish theme and this one did not disappoint. I always feel like I can relate to Ellery’s characters. They are book lovers. They are problem solvers and investigators. They are all dealing with something in their lives - trauma, physical scars, chronic illness, mental health issues, etc. As an enneagram 5, introverted, autoimmune warrior bookworm, I feel seen.

The mystery in this book is intriguing and the pace of the investigation in the story flowed nicely. There are no slow periods that would cause the story to drag. There are tiny clues throughout to keep your interest and I was completely surprised by the ending.

I loved the seasonal progression of the story. As it went into Halloween/Fall, complete with a masquerade ball, I was there for it. Despite it being mid 90’s outside here in SC, I felt like I was transported to cooler weather surrounded by pumpkins, warm drinks and fall feasts. As it ended with Christmas (and snow!) I felt a smile appear on my face. As I prepare my kids for school in two weeks, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better book to close out my summer reading and prepare me for spooky season.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series, and this one worked really well.

This series has been so much fun.
