What do I think about this book? Is there a plot? I’m quite unsure about either. The characters and scenes were believable and I enjoyed Vitoria and her strangeness, the way she describes writing. There was nice flow- I read it all in one go, so it captured my attention (although it didn’t take long to read). This was an unique one for sure.
Indelicacy is about a woman who wants to write and does write but writes for the pleasure of writing without any goal in mind. Just like the way she treats her writing, she meanders through life, her writing as lost as the way she lives.
We never find out if she does find meaning, but there is a quiet sort of hope in her meanderings.

Not wowed by this, but the steadiness of character voice exerts a cumulative power.

I adored this from start to finish. The prose may not be verbose or particularly eloquent, but it is perfect in its simplicity. The average person does not experience love as poetry because the average person does not see the world as poetry. A description doesn’t have to be a lengthy sentence; it doesn’t have to come with specific adjectives and picturesque imagery. Vitória’s description of seeing and appreciating Antionette’s habit of washing her dishes as soon as they have been dirtied is deeply intimate and requires nothing more. “And that meant something, didn’t it? For indeed I was a part of people’s lives. They were a part of mine.” ― Amina Cain, Indelicacy

Great point, horrible plot. Too fast.
