If this were a Star Wars film, it would be my new favorite one of the saga. I'd be watching it on repeat until I was sick of it. This book feels like Star Wars to its core. It references things/planets/people that the fans know, but does it so tastefully that the references blend seamlessly with the story and the world building. Speaking of which, it's flawless. It does a good job of balancing lore building with storytelling, and combining them so they're enjoyable and intriguing enough to keep reading. Convergence is like a love story to what makes Star Wars, well, Star Wars - the compassion, wisdom, and strength of Jedi teachings, the possibilities of unity and hope when people choose peace over war, the concept of forgiveness and shame and redemption and being broken but still trying.

I love these characters. I love the planets and culture they come from, I love the dynamic they share with each other. I love the journeys they go on individually, but also with each other and how their bonds strengthen and develop with the story. Not to mention the fact that Córdova's prose is absolutely gorgeous. I lost count of how many times I just wrote some variation of "Córdova, your prose!" in the margins. (Can she just write all Star Wars forever after this? I loved her approach so much.)
There is also some romance, but its more of a subplot than anything else and is again, well-balanced with the main points of the story without feeling overwhelming. It also feels mostly like a natural progression & definitely had me screaming into my hands at several points (in a good way!!)

I admit that the first chapters were slow for me and didn’t catch my attention but the rest? WOW. I loved it. Yes, it can be a little predictable at some points, but I still find it a very good book. And I loved all the main characters. I must get a physical copy !!
