I see injustices in the criminal system everyday, but this book left me with my jaw hanging open. I could not put this book down.
Great book. Who knew that you could count on John Grisham to deliver an excellent non-fiction law story. :) There were a few times where I had to pause to ask myself if this was real. He did a great job in researching the story, and the amount of detail is astonishing.

3.5 rounded up.
It feels like there were a lot of unnecessary details in this that could have shortened this book. The facts that are pertinent are fascinating though. The corruption & ways that these men were let down by just about everyone who touched their cases was so infuriating.

As said by Dennis Fritz “Am I guilty until proven innocent, or innocent until proven guilty?”
This book was well written and the depth of the corruption was mind blowing. I watched the documentary years ago that inspired my desire to read this and John Grisham did an amazing job. So many moments that hurt the heart for the injustice these men experienced.

A good read, although it is tough to imagine the injustice this book describes.
