One of the drier books I've read about product development/delivery but there are some nuggets of gold hidden in there, which is impressive considered how much has changed in the 20+ years since publication.

I decided to read this book because I was working with a team where "the usual" practices didn't seem to be helping in their context. I am so glad I did! So many nuggets of wisdom and new ideas to try, especially in the more technical space. I'm a Scrum Master, so there were some (very few) areas where Scrum/XP didn't really align, however, they seemed largely complementary. (Which isn't surprising seeing as both are founded on the Values and Principles of the Manifesto for Agile Software Development). This is a good one to read and also to keep on the shelf for future reference.

A good look at the beginnings of XP and indirectly Agile. It lays things out in a readable manner and includes the business much more than I thought it would.

10 years after the second edition of this book was published and I've finally read it. If you write software professionally I'd recommend that you read this book.
I've had the pleasure of spending the first eight years of my career working in environments that embraced at least parts, and many times most or all, of what is recommended by in this book. In my experience the recommendations given in this book work very well and lead to highly productive teams.

Read this for class, pretty thorough explanation of the principles of XP, for the actual application you have to read his second book "Extreme Programming Applied: Playing to Win".
