The afterword starts with "this was like playing a video game for the first time," and I think that's such a succinct way to describe this book. It's a wonderful adventure to go along with Link. The artistry is stunning. I also throughly enjoyed the bonus chapters. Anyone a fan of the franchise would do themselves a favor giving this a read.
It’s a cute book, but I wish the mangaka were given enough time. You can feel the pressure of deadlines coming off the pages. Still fun to read the young Link/old Link arcs!
This was good in it's own way compared to the game. Some logical gaps were filled in and/or explained, but the thing I liked most was the vulnerability Link showed. In the game he's automatically perfect, brave, and good at everything. In this, it took time and effort and teaching.
The "temples" were all straight to the boss, and some of them weren't even temples. They were a little out of order and didn't go straight to the location they said they were going to, which made it seem like the lay of the land wasn't the same as the map we're accustomed to, or maybe he just took the long way. I can see how it could have been better or more in depth, but for the length limitations, I think they did a good job.

Since this franchise is so influential to pop culture I thought I'd read this. I had the impression Zelda was more of an all ages franchise, this book was very specifically for grade school kids though. I didn't really enjoy this. I've liked other LIT RPG books, so I don't think the genre was the problem. Maybe I didn't like it because I'm too old for it.
it was so weird reading this after knowing how the game plays out
