Elton writes in a way that doesn't drag. The story flows. It seems to me that he was pretty honest with telling his life story. There are some parts that are not flattering, but he tells them. If you like rock star memoirs, this one's not bad.

What a fantastic, real, & entirely raw piece of work!
Elton takes you on his journey from childhood, positive & negative sides of rock & roll, his personal life, & his support for many foundations. He has an incredible story, & he really lays it all out there!
In addition to the music (it’s no secret he’s written some of the best), Elton talks openly about his experiences with drugs & alcohol, the LGBTQ community, & his support for many foundations, especially for AIDS. He shares many personal stories that can be gut wrenching & emotional, but he leaves it all out there!
I’ve read a few celebrity memoirs before, but nothing quite like this one. Elton was not afraid to point out his own mistakes & flaws, & while refreshing to read it made one of the biggest rock & roll stars feel like the rest of us

Hilarious and devastating memoir. Lots of name dropping in incredible ways. I’ll need to watch Rocketman again!

in this memoir, elton john chronicles the whole course of his life, from his working-class beginnings to young musicianhood and eventually global superstardom to his late-in-life fatherhood. john is unflinchingly honest and wryly self-aware, taking full ownership of the darker moments of his life, particularly those related to addiction. his story is simultaneously intimate and expansive, unfolding over the course of many decades but in a way that still feels personal. this was so deeply entertaining in a distinctly '70s sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll way, and it definitely made for an ideal audiobook listen.
