I always enjoy books with multiple plots from different women's lives, even more so when the women are from the same family. They're easy, relaxing. Which is exactly how I'd describe this book. Easy. Relaxing.
On the down side, I found each story a bit generic. Thayer didn't go 'all the way' with each character's story,' so I wasn't fully invested in everyone. And it ended with the generic "happily ever after' for everyone, which annoys me. Nothing ever tidily wraps itself up, especially at the same time for an entire group of people.
But overall, it's an easy read for someone looking for a book to pass the time.

I think I read quite a bit of Nancy Thayer "back in the day," but either her style has slipped or my standards have risen, and I found this one flat, predictable, awkwardly written, and, ultimately, skimmable. Pretty cover, but doesn't live up to its cover's promise.
Listened to this in audiobook. Enough intrigue and drama to be interesting. I come from a family with three girls, so the situation seemed very familiar. I enjoyed the writing, the characters, the events and the location. A fun, satisfying listen.
I can not stand behind a book where the three main characters all fall in love and are engaged to be married within the span of three months. I could have handled if it happened to one of the girls but ALL THREE. Sorry, no. I liked the fourth character, Marina, the best. She was the most developed and most relatable of the group.
This book was fine. I just didn't think that it was very interesting. A little (lot) predictable. A good beach read, and it has a nice happy ending, but...
A light, fluffy readable book set on the beautiful island of Nantucket. It was well written enough to finish, but really unmemorable. It is the story of three women and their dad struggling to overcome their past and find love(which became predictable and seemed to fall flat in their laps). What I found unusual about this book was just when it hinted that something terrible might happen through foreshadowing the expected never did happened and all ended happily! Sort of funny to have so many happy endings in one book. Their deceased mother is an enigma and the book opens with her featured, but we never learn much more about her until the end. I felt like the author missed an opportunity to add more substance to this book by adding more details about who the mother was and describing her struggles. The characters also were fleshed out lightly and almost everything from the sexual encounters to the inner demons were skirted around and only alluded to. The book felt forced and as if the author was not really fully invested in the writing of it.
Quick read, I was in the mood for the family, sister relationship, rambling, fairly predictable, happily ever after type novel. Doesn't hurt that nantucket was the setting!
sometimes corny and predictable but a fine no-brainer read.
3.75/5 This was a cute beach read. I thought the character development lacked a bit and the timeline taking place throughout one summer seemed incredibly unrealistic. (Although it is a fiction book so I cant complain too much about plausibility)
