Way too complicated for me. Maybe if I look into this I’ll find it astounding.

It broke my heart. A tale about being different, discriminated and unappreciated in an egotistical society that only wants to take. Reminded me of Kafka and "The Metamorphosis" a lot, because of the metaphor of an insect-man. The ending teaches children something that many parents fail to teach: trying harder for the best in a certain environment is one thing, but giving up is an art of its own. We put pressure on children all the time by teaching them how to show more effort, stronger willpower, harder work, but we forget to mention that quiting an environment that doesn't allow for freedom is equally important.

I eyed this book on the shelves of the library I work at for some time, particularly because my longest relationship up to this point was with someone who adopted the name Cicada for herself. I have a lifelong fondness for these insects, and I've read a bit of the graphic novels by Shaun and Amy Tan.
This one took about 10 minutes to read, but it was cute and charming.
