Bliss ✨

I rarely put a book down, but I had no absolutely no interest in finishing this one. The author didn't seem to have anything new to say or a new and interesting way to say it.

Well articulated and occasionally amusing.

It didn't take long for this book to become outdated...meaning, some of the male "feminists" mentioned in the book have since been accused of sexual harassment.

Essays that will inspire and infuriate.

Powerful read. I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend reading this book regardless of your gender or familiarity with the subjects addressed inside.

Lurking on the edges of Solnit's writing - an essay here and there - I realize now that I needed to fully experience a big dose of her thinking to fully appreciate her intelligence, her willingness to share her own experiences and growth, and her occasional snarky bits of humor.

As we witness our country entering into a pre-Handmaid's tale era, this book about women and feminism and cultural depictions and language is a must-read. Here's the thing: we need feminist writers to shine a light on those seemingly innocent dark corners. Solnit takes this responsibility seriously.

Solnit is wonderful and insightful and talks about lots of things that need to be talked about, filled upside down, and reevaluated in a way that only she can.
