A solid if uneven book of essays about sex, gender, violence, and art. Some have aged badly, but there are still a lot of interesting and well-expressed thoughts here that are worth engaging with.
Interesting essays about a lot of important social issues that our society faces today. Feminism, race, and crime, among others.

A life changing book, if I could give it ten stars I would! Everyone needs to read this
I don't have time to write down all my thoughts on this book, but it was excellent. In particular, "A Short History of Silence" really resonated with me. This is a short book, but deep and thoughtful, and I appreciate Solnit's take on several feminist themes I've been mulling over for the past 37 years or so. Will definitely keep it around for re-reading.

The last of a 'trilogy' of her essays, this book continues to show how Solnit is one of the most incisive (and needed) social commentators of our day. As it's a collection of standalone essays, some of the themes repeat, but I don't think this detracts from their messages.
I have long loved Solnit's writing and this was no exception! Though slightly behind the times, this is a wonderful comprehensive look at the expansions of feminist discourse from about 2014 onward to the beginning of the Trump era. A tidy little read with a lot to say in Solnit's signature style!
was tossing up between 3 and 4 because i'm not sure how much, despite it being so wonderfully written, this was going to stay with me, but that last essay, on giant, is so lovely. kind of a salve for how difficult the facts of the rest of the book are to take in, again.
