I enjoyed the book. I liked the idea of pictures really being a portal to the past or other places.

A really good book, like nothing I've read before or maybe a little like Narnia but with a modern twist.

Still as good as I remembered. This was my favorite book back in the fourth grade. Brought it into the camp I was working at to read it to the kiddos. Darker than I remember, but the story is just as good as it used to be. I'll have to read the rest of the series. I never knew there were more than three books.

āœØRe-read from my childhoodāœØ. I started this series when I was in elementary school? Maybe? But I didn't remember anything about it other than loving it. Hence why I am reading the series now.

This book was quite frankly fantastic. I love everything about it and I have no criticism. Right from the first page I was like yes! This is how I remember loving reading before school got in the way. I kinda forgot I was even reading while reading this, it's just a whole experience. Points for nostalgia for me and for the aesthetic of a creepy old mansion house. I adore the cats and the magic, which is very unique from anything else I've ever read. Where else can you read about people trapped in paintings and paintings that you can enter? And talking cats? What else do you need, honestly. A+ reading experience and it's always great to read not only a child favorite but also an easy book that doesn't confuse my brain and that doesn't have to have romance or anything like that. Highly recommend whether you're 5 or 75. :)

Guys this ā€œreviewā€ is gonna be so cursed because this is literally a childrenā€™s book and the only reason I read it is because I bought it at the school book fair when I was 11 but I never actually read it. And now Iā€™m 18.. but I was like nah Iā€™m not gonna let that money go to waste so Iā€™m gonna read it. The plot wasnā€™t really intriguing, like the idea for the story itself is creative but I felt like the book was just imagery with no actual plot. I never leave a book unfinished but I really wanted to because I honestly did not care to find out what happened at the end because there was nothing interesting going on. But also did I really expect to enjoy a book that is targeted towards children when Iā€™m literally going to university this fallšŸ˜ƒ but yeah maybe I wouldā€™ve enjoyed this 7 YEARS AGO when I bought it AS A CHILD. No hate to the author because the descriptions were nice and if I was a youngster I probably wouldā€™ve ate this book up. But as a young adult, forcing myself to read a childrenā€™s book just to not waste the $5 I paid at the book fair for it is truly a form of torturešŸ’€
