(2.5) Nothing too special and the writing is a little awkward at points but overall a fun story. Anything for escapism <3

This doesn’t hold its own as a book with its generic story and generic characters. Its only redeeming factor is that it’s Star Wars. It touches on the history of the Jedi in a new and interesting way.

I might have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t expecting a YA novel. This definitely felt more middle grade in its style, themes, and maturity level. The narrator even calls the protagonist a kid on multiple occasions. He’s thirteen years old, not the sixteen year old I was expecting.

It has its fun beats but otherwise it’s completely forgettable.

This was really great at showing how the knowledge of the Jedi had been erased by the Empire and how knowledge can and is intentionally lost or rewritten as myth by later rulers. It’s both a timely reminder and fantastic story in the Star Wars galaxy and I am very happy I went with it!

It’s a book with loads of humor, but enough serious moments to need that humor to soften the blow. It features the main character learning about Order 66 in perhaps the most intimate way a person could learn about it decades later. It’s absolutely brilliant and I still can’t fully believe it packed such a punch that I wasn’t fully expecting.

As usual, the characters immediately made an impression on me and inspired a sort of love to them & their lives. The story & plot are really engaging and it is one of those books you can easily pick to read with a middle grade-high school aged family member and still have a grand time reading it yourself! Definitely another good addition to the new Star Wars canon books, with a great narrator choice in Euan Morton!

A fun read, but it kind of felt more like a "let's hit all the famous stops in canon" than a real story to me. I did like the characters but felt the story could have focused more on them rather than famous events and places. Still it was nice to see how the "common people" of the galaxy are affected by the events of the films.

The nostalgia is strong in this one. This had a decent story that took the characters around the galaxy in search of the truth about Luke Skywalker and the Jedi. A lot about the OT and prequels were referenced and that made me happy. It stinks that this takes place in the Sequel Trilogy timeline, but I guess the story couldn’t really happen in the Legends AU. I think it could have gone a little more in depth about what it means to be a Jedi and how the Force works but that’s just me being nitpicky. I really did enjoy this book. I’d call it one of my favorite Star Wars books of the Disney canon.

This book feels like the holiday episode in a tv series where they flashback to the greatest moments from the current season...

I'm way past the target age group for this book, but I'm giving it 4 stars because I know the 11 y.o. me would have found it a thrilling read, despite the abundance of Mary Sue moments. Some nice hints (possibly) for the Rise of Skywalker, too.
