I'm not normally a big fan of the romcom, but this had just enough of a different perspective, with an completely unreliable first person narrator, that I enjoyed going on the journey with her. Chaotic in the funniest way.

This was a fun book that kept me turning pages. It felt a bit like a cozy mystery, except that the detective was also the victim of the (attempted) crime. A nice trick!

I enjoyed watching Mia come to entertaingly false conclusions about her life, and then revise them as new evidence forces her to. It's a fluffy, funny book. Don't expect hard-edged realism. It made a good break from the educational nonfiction I've been reading this week.

I didn't really care for this. I mainly kept going through the story because I wanted to uncover the mystery. The main character's inner monologue ranged from generally annoying to self-important. There was even a part where she calls a Black character's behavior "whining" because he was talking about how a plan she wanted to engage him in had the potential to get him arrested. Speaking of, the author did the annoying thing where she only identified someone's race if they weren't white.

I really didn't like how
the protagonist literally dissociates during sex because her fiancé ignored her wish to take things slowly, and it's just characterized as "bad sex"
. Interesting premise, but not so great execution.
