I really wanted to enjoy this book more because of how emphatic the reviews are. It grabbed me at the start and held me for about 400-500 pages but I think I put it down for too long and struggled to get back into it. The story and Theo's obsession with the painting just lost it's pull for me after a while.

Honestly I had no idea at any point where this book was going. I thought I did but then it would take a turn. Here were some parts that were long-winded and I glossed through and other parts that were actually exciting. I wouldn’t re-read the 770 pages again and I don’t know if I’d recommend it.
