The general story from this book is repeated by Six in the second book so if you don't have access to an e-reader, you just need to read book 2.
It seems to be a popular trend to release short stories or novella's for a series to warm up readers for the upcoming release of a book. Some of these are nice-to-have-but-nothing-special and more for the already existing fans of the series or to give readers a nice intro to the series (for example [b:Survivors|10967342|Survivors (Aftertime, #1.5)|Sophie Littlefield|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309541169s/10967342.jpg|15885316] or [b:First Frost|11763146|First Frost (Mythos Academy #0.5)|Jennifer Estep|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nP91WtD-L._SL75_.jpg|16713914]). Others are so great that you really don't want to miss out on them (for example [b:The Strange Case of Finley Jayne|11130686|The Strange Case of Finley Jayne (Steampunk Chronicles, #0.5)|Kady Cross|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1303414416s/11130686.jpg|16053889]). Six's Legacy definitely belongs in the last category. What a treat! It's a well rounded, fast paced story that perfectly complements I am Number Four and leaves you wanting for more. Six is such a cool chick and we don't get to know her very well in the first book so this was a great story to get to know her better.
Six's Legacy is supposed to be a prequel to the series (book 0.5), but it was released after I am Number Four. In any case, it is fine to read as a standalone, but makes a lot of sense if you already read the first book in the series because you are more familiar with the backstory.
The original review can be found on my blog: Fragments of Fiction

Likely the weakest back story there is as most of it has already been told to you. I felt like while it was interesting it was pretty unnecessary and another character could have been done. There were truly only 20 pages where I felt I was reading new material that had not been touched upon before. I did like how the story was put together, but I feel like they could have explored some more things that had not already been talked about.
So this book was good, sort of.
I feel like I already knew all of the stuff in here from the main series. I would have appreciated more of six's life before she met John. She said in the main series that she had been on airplanes before, but invisible. I never saw any of that. All I saw was a more in depth account of what she told of her past in the main series.

Adds to the series
This was an excellent addition to I Am Number Four that tells you Number Six's back story. It's a small book that I read in an hour. Well worth reading before you read book two.
Every time I read another instalment in this series I tend to bite my nails in suspense. This was no exception and there will be no time for the nails to grow as the Rise of Nine will be published in a few days.

This short story was one I was hoping would come. Six is one of my favorite characters and having her back story from her point of view was exactly what I wanted. Being able to learn more about her past and to see an alternative out look on a Garde's situation was refreshing and I look forward to more short stories showcasing the other Garde's point of view on their living situation.
The book is a prequel. It deals mostly with an untold story about Number Six from the time Number Two was killed to just before the story in "I Am Number Four." I thought it was ok. It was really cool to read about Six and what her life was like before her meet up with John (Number Four). If you just wanted a little untold story then this will probably be a good little read for you. It's not necessary to read this before "The Power of Six." It just fills in the back story of Six just a little.
