Harry Potter and the Deus Ex Machina. The plot was not seeded in the preceding 6 books, despite them all doing the world building and the setup of the climax of the story. The worst of the series. Again action packed to distract from the lack of both plot and character development. Much of the beloved wider cast is killed off to distract from the lack of high stakes.

A multilayered finale, full of clever detail that answers questions and ties everything together. An emotional journey, with sad, exciting and wonderful twists and turns.

The reread is complete.  These books were even better when reading them as an adult.  Deathly Hallows is an amazing ending to this series, full of plot twists and emotional moments and action. 

There are parts of this book I will never recover from.  So many good characters died (Hedwig, Mad-Eye, Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Snape, etc.)  The chapter with Snape's memories is especially heartbreaking.
