OMG SOO GOOD :D

I absolutely loved this last book in the HP series! The relationships, reveals, and everything else was perfect. Characters were wrapped up, everything was explained, and the story came together beautifully. I have a soft spot for so many of these characters and am so glad I committed to what was quite a daunting commitment at first. I finally understand the ubiquitous love for the series.

*I don’t in any way support J.K. Rowling as a person, nor do I agree with her opinions.

Jan 2018 reread: My yearly re-read was awesome, the magic never dulls.

That epilogue was just perfect. So utterly perfect! I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars!!

An excellent ending!

"Albus Severus," Harry said quietly, so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be waving to Rose, who was now on the train, "you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."

SO MANY FEELS!

Series Finished UwU

Overall, they’re nothing special. The writing is fine, the storylines are interesting but only delivered halfway, the characters have a lot of potential but aren’t explored very much and the pacing is a bit eh. They’re pretty good at best and infuriatingly offensive at worst.

I remember reading this book for the first time in sixth grade and finding it mind numbingly boring. Now as an adult the middle just kind of dragged a bit but was fine. I was hoping I would find some hidden theme that I hadn’t picked up on as a kid but no, it was just slow.

I liked that we finally got a bit of imposter syndrome from Harry while they were camping. I surprisingly really like Ron and Hermione towards the end. They’re very sweet and Ron grew on me a lot. I liked Draco’s hesitancy though I wish it was explored more (fanfiction oh sweet fanfiction) I LOVED the moment that Harry realized he was going to have to die. The description of counting his remaining heartbeats was really visceral and I liked it a lot. Joanne can write really nice emotions when she tries to but there are like three scenes in this entire series that she deigns to grace us with it.

One thing I will not miss is the end of book breakdown that happens Every. Single. Book. Things can’t just happen in a way that is easily understood. Nah nah nah we gotta sit down with Dumbledore and do a press interview about how the last 500 pages actually DID make sense, you just weren’t paying attention. Even in the AFTERLIFE you cannot escape a sick Dumbledore Explaining TimeTM. This book we got Two (2) cus why not interrupt the end of series epic battle moment with a lengthy explanation of wand physics uwu

Knowing that Joanne writes mysteries makes a lot of sense when I think about it. Cus it’s essentially the end of a Detective Conan episode where he tells you everything that happened and answers all the police’s questions. It just never stopped be anticlimactic to me. I wanted Harry to figure things out on his own, not be debriefed EOD.

Anyway, now I can move on with my life and read more fanfiction.

I’ll give this book 4.7 stars actually just because I think some parts of it have better execution in movie rather than in the book BUT OFC THIS STILL MY FAVORITE AND COMFORT MOVIE ALL THE TIME

It is such a sad day when you arrive at the very end of this series. Oh to live in a wizarding world. Snape's character arc and story is still one of the greatest of all time. Props to him, always.
