Sue Lynn Tan's writing is easily digestible however without fail can transport you to another world. I loved the characters in this and the twists and turns that the story took!

Sue Lynn Tan never misses. The twists and turns. The angst. This book is impeccable. There were some holes in the narrative, which I’m still mulling over, but it was such a surprising and delightful read nonetheless

If I was rating the first half of the book, it would have easily been a 3 or 4 stars but by the last 10 chapters I was pretty irritated so it gets a 2 stars in the end. I enjoy Sue Lynn Tan's world building and I liked the initial enemies to lovers plot between the main character and god of war, I was especially intrigued by the betrayal element because I was curious how the author was going to bring these two characters together after the God of War did something pretty awful.
Then the secret reveal came about the main character and it was used to gloss over the God of War's actions because of the misunderstanding trope of "he was really trying to do a good thing he just couldn't tell her". I'm not a big fan of the misunderstanding/secrecy trope so this took the wind out of my sails for this book personally.
I also felt this book could have been 10 chapters shorter. I was more interested in the conflict between the the Immortal realm and the Mortal realm than I was in the sudden trip to the Nether realm and the surprise enemy reveal for the latter half of the book so I wish it had focused more on the initial conflict that was introduced.
Would I recommend it? If you enjoy the author than yes, it's worth checking out as I don't think it was a bad book in general so I can see others enjoying it but it wasn't for me. If you haven't read the author's work yet I'd probably recommend her other series The Celestial Kingdom first.
