Chasing Lucky is typical Jenn Bennett: romantic and sexy, but with depth and emotion.
Josie has not been back to her hometown of Beauty, Rhode Island for 5 years, after her mom and grandma had an explosive argument causing Josie and her mom to flee. Now, they are back to run the family bookstore while grandma is traveling. As soon as Josie and her mom are back in town, old issues creep up. Their family is at the center of gossip and drama and Josie is left to navigate this after being gone so long.
And there is Josie's former best friend, Lucky, who was in the hospital the night she left. Lucky has a chip on his shoulder and is the town outcast. But Lucky and Josie are soon drawn back together after Josie makes a stupid mistake and Lucky takes the fall.
As Josie and Lucky reconnect and Josie starts to find her footing back in Beauty, Josie has to figure out what she wants for her future, reconcile the relationship between her and her mom, and dig up the past of her father.
Bennett is a master at teen romance and her stories are always very sex positive, which is unusual in teen stories. Chasing Lucky is no different. It delivers a swoony romance, but also battles issues of family and friendship.

I absolutely adored this book. Jenn Bennett is an autobuy author for me so I didn't doubt I would've loved this one as well. We follow Josie and her mother, at the beginning they come back to their hometown after Josie's grandmother and aunt leave for a trip. We find out that Josie's mom had a huge fall out with her mother . And between curses and prejudices against their family, it's all about this family reconnecting. But not only that, Josie and her childhood best friend Lucky, also had a big fall out. And unexpectedly they find each other. It was so sweet to see them trying to move past the hurt and the miscommunication and fear. Lucky is so sweet and loyal. I love the childhood best friends to lovers trope much more than just friends to lovers, and Jenn Bennett was phenomenal here. Definitely a sweet read that you don't want to miss out.

I think this may have been a me-problem, maybe I was in a small reading slump or something, but I just was not grabbed by this book, and that makes me really sad because I usually love Jenn Bennett’s books. I’ll probably reread this in a few months and change my mind, so please don’t think this is a bad book by any means!

January 4th 2021,
After five years travelled state to state with her mom, Josie finally came to her hometown. With plan that she made to be with her father, she attempted to fullfil it all at least until her grandmother come back. Unfortunately the planning got shattered like the glass window when one bad moment happen, making she have to rethinking again about all her plan. And don't forget Lucky the bestfriend from childhood who come again to save the day.
It's been one year since I read any books from Bennet and I have to say her work never dissapoint, I got hooked by anything I read from her. When I saw this book in her list before get published, I'm already so excited to read it and true it is an enjoy reading to me. I like the relationship between Lucky and Josie, even though some misunderstanding moment got in the way, I like Josie's mother self-development it clears everything in the end, her grandmother, Evie, and probably many more except the jacka** that show up in the book. Well I think it is not high to me for say if I want to read contemporary romance Jenn Bennet will be my number one choice above anything.
