Unique ideas and creativity.

Just finished this book and i'm super excited to pick my alter ego!
informative inspiring fast-paced

Yesss! I'm a Self-Improvement Junkie and I learned a LOT from this book. It was also incredibly fun to read.

At times, I felt like Herman's concept got a bit too complicated in its explanation. BUT. I really loved this book as a whole. I love how readers can take a "choose your own adventure" approach and read the chapters in whatever order suits them. I particularly liked the chapter about totems and their use in transitioning into the alter ego.

I had to give it two stars because once I got half way through I ended up skimming the chapters so I can get onto the other books in my TBR pile.

I was really intrigued in the concept of creating alter egos or different versions of yourself to execute in different areas of your life. This is something we all probably do without realising it.

The way the book flowed however, was underwhelming and I lost interest pretty quickly.

Hermen made a few notable points but I felt like much of the content was filler and could have been explained in way less than 235 pages.

He kept telling me what he was going to talk about rather than just getting on and explaining it by saying "I'll develop/explain this in 'X' chapter of the book" by the time you get to that chapter his telling you about another chapter.

One thing with me if someone is talking to me and they go round the houses instead of getting to the point I switch off. It's no different when I'm reading.

Great concept but execution didn't hit the target for me.

Other people's reviews have said he is better on podcast so I may check him out in that forum instead.

It's no surprise that as a child, we all dress up and pretend to be our favourite characters. There is something about dressing up as a character that brings out another side of you...even though you are the same person.

That's the whole concept of The Alter Ego Effect. Todd Herman has done a really good job of telling us to find and unlock our Alter Ego when we need it at the Field of Play. This could be as a spouse, sibling, parent, career person, etc.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and it made think about how to create my own Alter Ego for those moments in my life when I need a confidence boost, self-belief and enthusiasm to power forward.

In a market flooded with self improvement books this book falls incredibly short. Poorly written, mainly anecdotal stories. The writing is convoluted and hard to follow and the book is about 3 times longer than it needs to be.
