I really want to read fantasy but in the last two or three years I can not find a fantasy that I get on with. This book seemed perfect it is a fantasy that has a witch at the main character who becomes entwined with a demon. It started out well but once the two of them met I could not wrap my head around everything. Sure, I understood the big plot points but all the smaller details went completely over my head. It is not a good feeling to think that you are not smart enough to follow everything going on but that it what happened to me. Take my review with a grain of salt, if this sounds interesting to you definitely pick it up. I wish there was a cliff note version of this.
It got boring and lowkey I didn’t like any of the main characters

When I was recommended this book a year ago, I did not think much about it because it was fantasy based and at the time I was a hardcore romance reader. Well not it's a year later, and this book was amazing and really showed me how it is.
With the fast pace of a thriller and the story and worldbuilding of high fantasy, this book is easy to digest. As well as the characters are well written and easy to understand how they operate in the story.
I fell in love with the female main character, Emilia, because of the passion that she has to help solve the mystery of who killed the most important person to her. While she deals with supernatural elements and meets the demons that her nana told her about, she also suffers with the internal demons about how her family would react to her doing all of this for just one reason.
Overall, this being the first book in the series has me hooked and wanting more from the author.

This entire series was astounding.
I inhaled these books. I was not expecting to adore them the way that I do, but these became my Roman Empire.
I adored the FMC, Emelia. It felt like she was strong and resilient, yet soft and pliable. She gained a lot of footing in the first book.
Wrath. Is. Bae.
I’m so glad I read these. The biblical accuracy, the intelligence, the absolute plot line spins.
This book has everything you need.

I absolutely loved the beginning of this story. Can't wait to read the second book. New fan of Kerri Maniscalco.
