Witches, demons, and princes of hell.. This is an excellent, dark, novel. Taking place in Italy, twin witches are torn apart when one in brutally murdered. Emelia goes on a hunt to avenger her sister and in the process meets 4 of the princes of hell. I loved the incorporation of witch hunters, religion, dark magic, and how the princes of hell are based on the 7 deadly sins!
It started very slow but got so much better. You definitely want to keep reading the next 2 after you finish this one. Note: there is A LOT of graphic sex scenes in books 2 and 3. This is not really a book for young adults.

I wasn't a huge fan of the author's writing style. The plot was interesting, but could have been developed better and was a predictable. There wasn't a lot of character development. The setting was a bit confusing, as it felt like a mashup of dates that at times could be anywhere from the 1800s to today. I felt like the time period could have been better established.

So the premise and the setting was interesting but then my interest slowly fizzled out. It was predictable, a bit convoluted, and they kept pulling out new lore when convenient. The FMC fell flat and her dead twin was more interesting tbh.
I also can’t get past the writing style.
It’s set in Italy and even when reading in English I understand that I’m supposed to pretend they’re all speaking Italian. That’s great and all, except the writing actually squeezes in random italian words in the sentence so it feels more like “these are english speakers living in italy”. Totally takes me out of the story
