Figured it was time to finally read this series, especially after devouring Throne of the Fallen. Loved the peep of my little angry baby Envy 🥹

Emilia and Wrath are still deep within the slow burn it feels like - but dang that ending makes me question!

I also still have so many questions - which I'm sure will be answered by the next two books.

You liked this book, but not enough to read the second.

4.5 stars.
Kerri Maniscalco knows how to write a fast-paced story. Was some of it predictable? Yes. Did I still enjoy it? Absolutely. The plot and setting of this book was so dark and intriguing and the ending was GREAT. I just wish it had a little more complexity but otherwise it was a really good book!

This was just an okay read for me, it started off slow and didn't really pick up for me until closer to the end but I enjoyed following Emilia and Wrath's relationship as it progressed. I love a MC with character growth so I was not a fan of Emilia (I'm hoping as the series continues that we get to see more of that) and I really did not like that ending at all (but it definitely got me to pick up the second book lol). I've already read Throne of the Fallen so I feel like I kind of have an idea of what'll happen next but I'm enjoying this series enough so far to finish it.

MAIS C’ÉTAIT SUR EN FAIT

it was kinda mid its been ages since I've read this but ik I didn't like it good enough to read the second one

very late edit: I ended up rereading this book and ended up reading the entire series! It was pretty good but there was a lot of unnecessary smut

Fantastic trilogy! I really loved this first book, the author did a great job world building but not an overwhelming amount. The characters were interesting and easy to relate with. The best part for me was the blend of fantasy and mystery. So many twists that kept me interested and slightly addicted!
