The Iron Fey series grew on me. I didn't LOVE the first book, and was disappointed in the first novella. I didn't feel it added anything (and I had put my reading of book 2 on hold until I could get to it). Reading THIS, I was glad to have read Winter's Passage, as the Wolf is a central character in both.
I liked the next two books, and really enjoyed the novella "Summer's Crossing" ... the shift to Puck's perspective was really fun. HERE, the switch to Ash's point of view was a little difficult for me to adapt to.
As readers, we've known Meghan, but here, we get to know Ariella. Some of the descriptions of her touched me ... "empty, so quiet, drawn into herself, brooding over a future ... her smiles seemed rigid and forced, her laughter tinged with melancholy. A ghost, and echo of a person I once knew."
... and during Ash's test "There is no pass or fail. There is only endure. Survive." Sometimes I feel that is life ... and me.
So with that, and with the love triangle (square) ... they get to me, especially when they are like this ... at times I felt like I wanted Ash and Ariella together... it was a bit of a melancholy read, even with all the action. Ash's trials were trials indeed.
I think by the end, I needed the happy ending.

Wederom een boek dat ik voor de laatste bladzijde niet weg kon leggen. Het verhaal is geen moment saai geweest. Een boek vol fantasiefiguren, waarvan er veel bekend (en ook vele minder bekend) zijn door sprookjes, mythen en legenden.
In dit deel is Ash de ik-figuur. In de vorige delen was het Meghan die centraal stond.
Was Ash in het eerste deel nog een ijskoude winterprins, in de daarop volgende delen brokkelt zijn ijzige pantser steeds verder af en leer je de echte Ash kennen.

The best book in the whole series. Ash’s story was heartbreaking and full of adventure. The best kind of story.

Ci voleva proprio questo romanzo per concludere in bellezza la serie *w*. Un intero viaggio con Ash, Puck e Grim cosa potevo chiedere di più? ♥
Sì, c'è stata una cosa che mi ha fatto girare le scatole, ma oltre a questo è stato un bel romanzo, divertente e avventuroso :D.
La prima parte è stata un pò noiosa, ma poi è cominciata l'azione e non sono più riuscita a staccarmi dalla pagine! Dovevo assolutamente sapere cosa sarebbe successo ad Ash e se sarebbe riuscito a compiere la sua missione.
E' una serie fantastica, se non l'avete ancora letta ve la consiglio caldamente ;)

ahh, what a way to end a series the perfect happy ending! i loved this series and i am sad to see it go but Iron knight was an amazing book, i loved every minute of it i thought that this ash that we say was perfect i loved how things ended up with puck and to be completely hones i was sad about what happened with Ariella but it was perfect how her story ended! this book was outstanding!
Bearing out my theory that the best relationships are the ones that get written by accident, Ash/Puck continues to be orders of magnitude more interesting than any of the canon relationships in this series
