* note: the only SPOILER is at the END of my warning tape*
I found this book to be much more original than the first. I wasn't comparing it to Harry Potter as much, which was a relief. This book got much darker than the first. I haven't decided if the content is too dark for a middle school audience. On the other hand, it reminds me a little of "A Series of Unfortunate Events." I was terrified at a couple of points and I'm 27 years-old. I also have a problem with Morrigan's lack of care and guidance by the adults in this book. It was very frustrating to see Morrigan, a middle school aged child, not being taken care of as such. Moving along, this book was fully engrossing. Hawthorne is still may absolute favorite and I'm glad that we got to meet his family. I liked that we got to see the relationship of Unit 919 change throughout this book. It was very satisfying. I hope to see much more of Unit 919 on Morrigan's adventures.
Warning tape: Neglected children(aka Morrigan)???, Hallowmus(Halloween), clairvoyant(though they made fun of the fact that what was being said were lies and far fetched, which it is, if not demonic.), SPOILER: selling of humans and animals, etc for nefarious purposes.

Luettu jo toista kertaa. Tälläkin kertaa viisi tähteä. Täydellinen maaginen maailma, mielenkiintoiset henkilöhahmot ja kirjoitustyyli täynnä juuri sellaista huumoria, joka minuun iskee.

This was good. I liked the school setting and all the new characters ( hopefully they have more appearances In the next book ). I think I liked the first book more since you had the trials and all the holidays ( I loved the Christmas chapters ). Also I would have liked for jack to be more in this book since he’s the best character

This book annoyed me throughout its entirety.
The amount of bullying Morigan faced with no one on her side was just frustrating...the hate she got for 1)defending herself and 2) losing control of her power was aggravating... why take her in if they didn't want to teach her? .. expect the team to be loyal but isolate her from the team, yes...that makes perfect sense.
Also, too much harry potter thieving. Her turtle teacher who supposedly hates her, sacrificed himself for her, Snape, anyone?
The gaurdian who's never around to actually help except at the last minute (how very Dumbledore like).
Also...it was sooooo slow and ghastly market never felt like a real threat.
And, the vegan in me feels the need to point this out. I know pretty much every book is speciest but some just emphasise it more than others...as this one did, Townsend was grasping at straws to show differences between animals and "wunimals" ... Almost every animal is sentient...the word you wanted Townsend, was sapient. But basically because we can't communicate with animals, its ok to e speciest against them kill the ones you want to eat but not wunimals, which basically sound like more evolved animals.
So frustrating.

This is happiness on paper. I ADORED the first book and raved about it to anyone who would listen, there are no words to describe just how incredible it is. Wundersmith is equally as incredible, it makes me feel warm and happy while reading it, I raced down to the bookstore on the 30th and made them open the box in the back room as it hadn’t been shelved yet, I’ve never been more excited about a book release since Harry Potter! It’s MAGICAL. Plain and simple. The characters are perfect, the world is perfect, everything is perfect. Jessica Townsend, you are an an amazingly talented author and I’m so grateful that you’ve bought this world into mine - book 3 cannot come soon enough!
