My rating 3 stars.

Things I liked:
-Zeke
-the football elements

Things I thought could have been better/didn't like
-how Riley treated Zeke. Like yes Zeke messed up and she had reason to be upset with him, but she treated him pretty poorly throughout the novel. Even when their relationship developed, she was very quick to turn on him and said some pretty awful things to her.

-Riley's character seemed underdevloped to me. Her whole storyline consisted of her hatred of Zeke/blaming him for her brother's disability, her promise to her brother, and her love of art/football. I wish we had seen her develop and mature more. Her arc felt a bit flat to me.

General Thoughts: this book is written in first person alternating POV. I had some issues with Riley's character arc and development that detracted from this one for me.

I picked this one to read because I thought I was going to get a Black football romance or at least interracial based on the cover, but nothing in this one overly hinted at that being the case. I read it in because of the cover though. So for those looking for that, know it's not really there.

I thought the "conflict' was overblown too, as others have said.

Negatives aside, I liked the writing and will check out another by this author for sure. I enjoyed it well enough.

Steam Meter: New adult. Medium new adult steam. Descriptive sexual scenes but also not as descriptive as many adult ones. It includes some light choking references.

Romantic Tropes
-enemies to lovers
-brother's best friend
-prior high school crush
-football/sports romance

4.5 stars really. I read this in a day and a half. I just could not put it down!! Zeke and Riley’s story made me tear up and laugh out loud. It made me angry and disappointed at times. But mostly, it made me love them together. Much more than JUST a sports romance as well. 100% recommend. Loved it.
