You know that joke about bookblr / literaryblr that goes along the lines of 'you kissed me but my heart was empty yet it made flowers bloom in my chest and ichor and bronze and you are holy holy holy'? That's this book. It's pretty writing but rings hollow and flat, mimicking things other authors have written in much better prose. It's got a plot, but you can tell the author is white. I'm allergic to white authors, welp.
It's got lesbians in it but it's very much cis and feels, again, white. Where's the flavor? Don't look, just let the overwrought writing distract you, smile.
The main thing it has going for it is that it's short. Oh thank god it' short.
