It's not Christmas for me until I've watched or read some rendition of A Christmas Carol. I've come to appreciate the original book more and more over the years. It's no wonder it's a classic that's been done over and over again.

I really enjoyed the book because of the great writing and storytelling style. The end of the story was very well written. I also liked how the author pictured and critiqued some of the character traits of people.

Lovely read! The book highlights a lot of issues of Ebenezer's self that a lot of the wealthy population shared at the time it was set. Dickens is a wonderful writer and I always look forward to reading his stories. however, would've rated higher if I analysed it in different context

I started and finished this book on the 27th of January as part of the Dymocks challenge, planning to use it as part of the ‘award-winning books’. however upon further research i realised that the book itself never received an award, only the author and the movie. I’ve already seen the movie and was familiar with the story but if i wasn’t then I’m not sure if i would have liked or understood this book. It was written in the late eighteen hundreds so the language is different and took me a moment to understand. This, and possibly the fact that I was tired when reading it made it a little hard to read. The character development (of how scrooge instantly realises that he can be better) is a bit unbelievable but I dont think it was meant to be believable, just thought inspiring. Which it was. 2.25 stars
