The thing that I really like about this series is that it's a series unlike many others, such as The Wheel of Time which I recently got up to date on, because they are all their own story and come to a close every 1-2 books. I also enjoy how Flanagan incorporates so many of the real life cultures in our world to Will's world. I very much enjoyed this new adventure! I especially enjoyed the prominent roles of Alyss and "Evanlyn".

Yes, I do very much enjoy The Wheel of Time don't get me wrong but it is nice to "finish" a story once in a while.

This has always been one of my favorites from the whole series.

If this is truly the last one, I'm a little disappointed in the ending. The book itself isn't that bad. I was just hoping for a different ending.

In this latest adventure we find our world expanding yet again. Halt and Will are busy negotiating some peace agreements in a far away land, and Horace finds himself in Nihon-Ja, a more distant far away place that most directly compares to Japan, helping the emperor escape from a rebellion that would lead to him being replaced as emperor. Princess Cassandra shows up out of the blue to secure the help of Halt and Will and some others to help rescue Horace as he's gone missing in his effort to aid the emperor. The old friends that they are, Halt and Will readily race to his assistance.

I always enjoy following these guys on their crazy adventures, and The Emperor of Nihon-Ja is no exception. We get to see more of Flanagan's world unfold and how these friends will do everything in the power to aid one another and help people in need when evil threatens. As ever, I look forward to seeing what the future may hold for our companions.

I have loved the Rannger's Apprentice series, and this one was just as satisfying as all the rest.
