*Spoiler alert*
I genuinely think this is a 5-star story, but I wish there had been more context for how Cassie had created the books in the first place. I also thought that, when Cassie was sent back ten years, a lot more could have happened; like...she didn't even make new friends? Nothing eventful happened in those TEN YEARS? That part of the plot felt completely unrealistic and sort of...empty. Otherwise, I loved the concept, the switching between viewpoints and time periods to bring the whole picture together, and how dark the storyline was. But there were just a few plot holes that keep me from granting this book 5 stars.

This book is a masterpiece that leaves no loose ends with themes of cycles, love and loss, pain and joy, hope and despair, fate and time. The story pulled me into one world that’s like real life and another that is impossibly fantastic with brilliant perspective changes and staggered jaw-dropping twists. Parts of this book were deeply disturbing, others were cozy and delightful, some hopeful and reflective, all with an underlying thrill from the high stakes throughout. “Masterpiece” truly feels like the only word to sum up this book, and the narration lived up this word as well!

What if there were books that captured every possible human state or emotion and you could use those books to enhance those States for yourself or others? And then what if there was a book that would enable you to turn any door into every door?

There are really good people in this book who are there for each other in all of the most unusual and strange circumstances. There are also sociopaths in this book. Be warned.

First off I would not liken this to The Midnight Library, Addie LaRue, or The Night Circus. This is far darker and less hopeful.
I enjoyed the first 60% or so maybe 70. After Part 5 it all went downhill for me. It just became a bit of a mess.
I've see  this called a hopeful and/or inspiring read???  WTF? I guess if you choose to just skip over a few very critical paragraphs, then maybe. But then why bother reading.
