This was not the love story I expected. But it was still pretty epic. I loved how the author wove all the characters and timelines and lifetimes together.

I don't love fate-centric books, and this book didn't convince me. I wouldn't recommend the book per se, but I enjoyed the read overall. As someone who doesn't like to party and is worried about how much some of my friends are partying, the only relatable character was Garden. I was genuinely angry at how often River ignored her texts and calls, especially at the end when he promised to answer her calls and then didn't pick up?? What, you can promise stuff across lifetimes but can't keep a promise to check in with your sister?? Augh! There were many sex scenes that I thought were superfluous. Some of them I could see why they were there, some of them were needlessly graphic. I also didn't understand why so much drug was mention when all of the characters seemed understand of sound mind and unaffected the whole time??
It's kind of sad that my favourite part was the Acknowledgements at the end, where I enjoyed a glimpse into how connections made the book possible. They were sweet, and the background of the characters creation was interesting.

Wow. This is a beautiful tale of love, longing, betrayal, desire, and desperation. The way the storylines intertwined and resolved(ish) was stunning. I was trying hard to not cry while finishing the book at work. There were a few incarnations that I couldn't quite match up in my head from 4 BC > 1740 > Present Day, but it did not diminish my enjoyment of this story. The writing might as well been in calligraphy, that's how beautiful it is. I am blown away.
