Sarah Hogle is the only author you will catch me reading a Christmas romance from in 90°F weather. This is officially my favorite Christmas story. If it were a movie, it would 100% top The Grinch and Elf for me.

Bettie Hughes, in a stellar display of drunkenness, spills her wine and plays her All I Want for Christmas is You vinyl backwards, accidentally summoning Hall, as in Holiday, as in the Holiday Spirit. Bettie is bitter about life and extremely shallow, the complete opposite of wholesome Hall, who radiates the Christmas spirit.

Even though Bettie has a long list of unlikeable personality traits, I loved her from the get go. Hall too. I adore them together and the way their personalities bounce off of each other. This was the most fun book I've read in a while. I was constantly cracking up throughout the book. Bettie's family is a hot mess and also hilarious.

Also, the Christmas atmosphere is so rich! This book deluded me into thinking I was snuggled in a big cozy sweater with a snowy backdrop instead of sweating my butt off in shorts and a tank top.

I can't even pick between this and You Deserve Each Other as my favorite Sarah Hogle. I'm obsessed.

HUGE thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc!

Do you love Sarah Hogle? Are you obsessed with romance books? Do you need to swoon? ⁣ If you answered yes to any of those questions, stop everything and order Just Like Magic. This is possibly one of my favorite Christmas novels. ⁣

I loved Bettie and Hal, there is something about Sarah characters she get it right.⁣Overall this book is oozing with cheer-filled holiday goodness and I cannot wait to see what is up next for Sarah!

the plot of this is so whimsical & I think at first the male character’s state of being/existence? idk what you call it but I was confused if he was a robot or a ghost or what. also will say the main character is pretty hateable for a while

This was unhinged but a lot of fun at the same time!
It is so quirky and odd… I haven’t read anything like it. It took me awhile to get into the book and actually enjoy the story and characters. But I was cheering for the FMC by the end!
Definitely wholesome and not steamy but fun nonetheless! I have to give it 3 stars

THIS is the goofy he spoils her trope i always knew i needed <3 in fact, it might be this year's goofiest book i've read (so far)

ngl to you i really did love how RIDICULOUS this was and i'm usually not one for excessive quirkiness but this one was just what i needed sheesh

This book was so weird...but I kind of loved it? Is the main character annoying? Oh yeah. But all of her pop culture references were oddly great and when Hall came along I honestly laughed out loud multiple times because everything was so ridiculous. It has magic in it so once you accept that literally none of these things can happen it really grows on you and I ended up really loving this book. If you unsure in the beginning I say just keep going because it'll surprise you.

3.5 stars. Don’t be fooled by the simple cover, this book is absolutely bonkers. It’s definitely not your typical Christmas romance book. Wasn’t keen at the start, but by the end I really warmed up to it

This might sound cheesy, but Sarah Hogle just gets me when it comes to writing romances that I will enjoy. This was silly and goofy, even borderline chaotic, but at the same time it was heartwarming and heart-wrenching. Never thought I'd find my perfect holiday romance book in April, but I'm not complaining.
