slow-paced
Maybe it’s because I have a lot of experience with Autism but I felt the author spent to much time setting up plots and explaining things and it took forever to get intresting. One of my least favorite Jodi Picoult books honestly
Read this on my spring break trip and loved it. Interesting perspective of both a young adult with aspergers but also the perspectives of those in his family.
Didnt like the ending

we should have at least been told the verdict. Did I miss it and dont know it? Great book, though.

By far my favorite book by her and one of the titles I'll recommend if a friend is looking to read something.
If this book had been written by someone else I might have given it 4 stars. But Picoult’s reputation for the endings of books made it disappointing since the WHOLE BOOK WAS PREDICTABLE.
The twist at the end of Picoult's books are a crapshoot of emotions for me. House rules is not an exception.
Wow. I'm a little happy to know that I "solved it" before the cops did. Absolutely riveting - I could have read it in one sitting if I had the time.
The ending of House Rules was more predictable to me than Picoult's other books, but her intricate main character won me over. It seems she created a fictional teenager with Asperger's with relative ease - amazing!
It has been a few years since I have read a book by Picoult. I went through a period of reading four or five in a row. By the last one I was bored with her writing style--each chapter in its own voice.
After a nice long break it was refreshing to come back to her voice. This book is quite lovely. The story is compelling (as always) and the various point-of-views are incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

When my friend Sandra gave me this book she said, "Fasten your seat-belt". She was RIGHT!! Great story, only out it down each night because it landed on my face once I'd dozed off while reading in bed.
