Easily one of the greatest books or graphic novels I've ever read. Deeply reflective and utilizing the medium push it as far as it can go to still tell a coherent story, "Rusty Brown" stays in my mind as a book to forget for a few years so I can have the experience all over again.

This is the second work I've read by Chris Ware. I need to take it in small doses because it can just be so sad. But it's also so beautifully done. There's really nothing like this. I'm so glad I own both this and Building Stories. They are art and stick with you for a long time. This book is like an art house film. The pacing and structure is cinematic, but quiet.
Solid art, interesting themes, honestly it was a GREAT work. I'd probably never read it again or recommend it, as some of it felt a bit too... How do I describe the "feeling" beyond saying introspective-graphic-novel-about-men and not making any sense? I feel like I've read this story before. Loved the short bit about scifi and the entirety of Joanne Cole's part.

No one captures the melancholy drudgery of average life quite like Chris Ware.
I heard a lot of buzz about this book, and while the artwork is really gorgeous in many panels, the stories were just too bleak for me. I am going to give this two stars, but the final story spoke to me, so I’ll say 2.5. Also, I had to download a magnifying glass app to read it, so it is certainly not an accessible book.
