I would love to live in the world of Click and be best friends with Beth and Chanda. Such a delightful expansion to the Universe! Looking forward to their first school dance!!

Reading 2022
Book 152: Besties: Work It Out by Kayla Miller

Found this graphic novel searching for something on the library website. I have read the Click series of graphic novels as well. Thought I would give this series a try. Both series are reviewed for ages 8-12. Besties seemed more for middle school readers to me.

Synopsis: A graphic-novel series spin-off of the Click books, featuring aspiring entrepreneurs Beth and Chanda! When the girls land a lucrative dogsitting gig, they're sure that fame, fortune, and popularity can't be far behind, but nothing can prepare them for the mishap that throws their business plan—and friendship—into chaos!

Review: I liked this book, maybe a bit more than the Click series. Both series are coming out with new books, good additions to a classroom library. I enjoyed the dynamics of the two main characters and how they worked on their friendship. My rating 4⭐️

Besties: Work It Out is a sweet, realistic graphic novel about friendship, starting a business, animals, and family relationships. Filled with the perfect balance of school drama, this graphic novel provides a look at the effects of peer pressure, the effort needed to correct a mistake, and the importance of loving older siblings. I would totally recommend it!

6.5/10, I enjoyed this one, but I couldn't really relate to the story, I think it needed a little bit more emotion to it. I liked the character development within the story, since both main characters developed a sense of responsibility, even though they are around 11-13 years old, but they were irresponsible before that, but I think that was the point of the story. The art was good as well, but the typeface was a little hard to read. The plot itself was simple, and light hearted which makes sense, considering that it's for younger kids, not older readers who would read YA, that's why I didn't enjoy as much, but maybe I would've liked it better if this were released around 2-3 years ago, when I would've been the right audience for this novel. My only problem with this novel is that other than the two main characters being responsible now, they were on the flat side, though I did like Beth's sister, which acted like a mentor for her. If you like graphic novels, this is the book for you.
