Liu & Takeda deliver another fantastic Manga/fantasy mash-up with an amazing female-centric cast. The mysteries of this world are intense. The lore that Liu is creating here is great. She does a great job of world building and Maika, the lead character, is phenomenal. The book keeps adding characters, which is daunting as a reader but they're all done well. The art by Takeda is spectacular. I can imagine its not for everyone but I think its a perfect fit for this title. Great stuff!

When I rated book one I had trouble deciding what to rate it. Not so with this. The art is a hard core five star. It's gorgeous, just beautiful and detailed and simply amazing. You just don't see art like this that often any more.
The story is still very well written. What was different was I liked Maika Halfwolf better this time. She's still rough and violent but she is also capable and she is so screwed thanks to her mother. You can't blame her for being one angry young woman.
Without giving too much away, there are pirates, demons and goddesses. There's plenty of tall ships a sailing, friends helping each other, plenty of battle scenes and intrigue and betrayal. The characters are diverse and well fleshed out. It's not a pretty world It's a bit too dystopic for my tastes but it's so well told that I'm hooked. It lives up to its hype.

I love this series! I got a little confused in this, but that's only because I waited far too long after reading the first volume. I'm going to get to the third volume as soon as possible. Maika is such an awesome character, as are all of the characters in this story. Very great writing and the artwork is to die for!

I really really love the artwork in this series, but I just find the main character to be quite annoying so I can’t enjoy the series and the worldbuiling as a whole.
I LOVE THIS VOLUME AS MUCH AS THE FIRST ONE!!!
More of the world, new characters, and finally some answers about Maika's past (even if we're left with more questions). And every panel is gorgeously drawn!
LOVE IT.
