While I continue to have problems with the Barbie doll depictions of the main characters, I am hooked on the story and the gorgeous art. I can't seem to quit this series!
The second collection of Monstress introduces new threads into the tightly-woven story and reveals new settings in the characters' world, as Maika Halfwolf, and her companions Ren and Kippa, try to retrace her mother's journey to the ghostly Isle of Bones. At the same time, we get important and satisfying information on some of the biggest mysteries so far.
Marjorie Liu's suspenseful and powerful storytelling is perfectly complemented by Sana Takeda's intricate, often haunting art. This series continues to be a masterwork of comic storytelling and I can't recommend it highly enough.

A nice improvement from the first volume. Storyline and revelations are more understandable, we have fewer 'lectures' from the cat professor and the info dump was woven quite seamlessly in the main narrative.
And the artwork, oh my goodness. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. The worldbuilding is truly captivating. Sure I am biased since this volume has arcanics as pirates, scary sirens, haunted island and more, more magic.
I adore Kippa, and how she steadfastly played her role as Maika's conscience. Maika and the demon's relationship was also more fascinating to read with more past revelations about the demon.
The ending was definitely a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read the next volume.

I swear this world, the writing, and the art is beyond fantastic!
Every piece of art is immaculate; it's beyond anything that I think anyone could ever create/draw. It's that amazing. Sana Takeda is a fantastic artist and I am blown away with every page.
Marjorie Liu is also a fantastic story teller and has written this world with such uniqueness that there could not be anything that can be the same. It's so dark yet has its intimate moments. It's fascinating and I'm excited to see what happens next.
Also, Kippa, the little fox, is truly so adorable! I pray that nothing happens to her and that she helps Maika in a good way; Maybe soften her heart a little bit (even though I do enjoy how complex Maika is).

Pues me sigue turboflipando, ojalá no baje el ritmo (aunque me parece difícil mantenerlo).
Beautiful illustrations, a captivating plot, and immersive world building.
