Again I am not sure I followed any of the story but the art was lovely and setting it on the a pirate ship was very cool. Kippa remains my favourite - so cute.
This series is best read on paper as you will probably want to stare at the drawings and reading it on screen / Hoopla etc makes the experience a little cold. I was rarely invested - unlike say Saga, my touchstone for a series which is near perfect.
Recommended for the unusual atmosphere, world building and the art. Story is confusing - be prepared to be lost. Rated for the art only as I spent time trying to make sense of what I seeing. Intricate work.

This next installment gives some fascinating insight into the monster, as well as the monster's relationship with Maika. I love the settings and the world these characters live in. The lore is really cool.

Can't get over how gorgeous these are. My only complaint is that there are a lot of characters and the plot is very complicated...I have to reread sections to get a grasp on it. But...sigh. So worth it. Excited for volume three!
The artwork continues to be beautiful beyond belief and the story is fascinating.

This series is one of my favourite series of all time already.
I sm blown away by the creativity that went into these books, the art style is so beautiful and dark and ugh! I just love it so much.
The world building. Honestly so amazing and like nothing I've seen/read before. Describing it would take too long and since I read these books in german I don't know the translated names for the races etc. The backstory of the world was further explained in this volume and it was just amazing. I can't wait to read/learn more about the ancient gods and monsters.
Have I mentioned the amazing diversity? No? Multiple queer (side-) characters (and nobody gets shit for it, it's universally accepted), people of different skin colors (especially in this volume) and amazing strong female characters.
And the main character is not involved in any love story what so ever!!!
I just live for this series.
